”
I hail from the rainy suburban town of Woodinville, Washington, outside of Seattle, and was born and raised in the Pacific Northwest (yes it rains a lot, but you learn to love it). The outdoors, live music, art installations, tattoos, and anything visually appealing make me giddy. I’ve always loved creating a feeling from a visual aesthetic and being able to bring someone into a moment using only what they see in front, or around them, while disrupting some of the norms we hold as a collective culture. My biggest aim in my work is to allow my audience to see the world through my lens, and share my own unique perspective on the world, if only for a moment. Having said this, I love the balance between the intended and the inferred in all art and design and hold autonomy as highly important. Curiosity is one of my top priorities.
I may have gotten a little sick of the rain. In 2016 I moved to sunny Boulder, Colorado to study at the University of Colorado. Having no clue what I would do with myself and my love for aesthetics, I started taking art classes. I was able to throw myself into a world of nearly boundless creativity, and I began to stretch my creations as far as possible across all platforms I could get my hands on; from wood sculpture to figure drawing. Despite my love for art, I also love people. I sought a way I could apply my art skills while partnering with other people and businesses in the world that share the same passion for their muse, as I do for mine. I wanted to reach a greater audience, to use my art to shape new or small businesses into the brand they seek to become, and break through the over-saturated consumer market in only positive ways. Keeping art close to my heart, I dove into Design.
But I couldn’t just design, so I’m an Artist and a Designer. I dapple in just about every medium I can get my hands on, and enjoy finding new ways to blend my artistic and design work together, to create even more unique and free-flowing visuals. Having something to build my passion around has allowed me to continually push myself to create a wide variety of both digital art and design work, as well as studio art. My skills are growing and new ideas flourishing with each new class I take and each project I create, as I continually seek to become a stronger Artist and Designer.
This brings me to where I am now. I currently reside in a one-bedroom apartment in Boulder, shared by my lovely Beta fish named Blue, lots of art supplies, and many, many plants. In May 2020 I plan to graduate with my Bachelor’s in Strategic Communication, emphasis in Media Design, and a minor in Art Practices. When I'm not working on a project, you'll find me in the mountains, at a show, or in bed watching Bob's Burgers. I am constantly on the hunt for new inspiration and ideas that can not only propel me in my artistic endeavors, but that will make anyone stop and think, even if just for a moment.
Sincerely,
Hailey
