Always Watching Final Project

Lots of thrift stores, calls to best buy, and two very nice families off of facebook marketplace and craigslist later and you’ve got yourself two tube TVs, and a free bike for your boyfriend. Finding old tube TVs was a HUGE pain, but it was well worth it, and people are pretty eager to get rid of something you have to pay to recycle properly, yet actually still work. The moving eye gifs came out nicely in an array of colors that were easy to change thanks to those linked Illustrator files in After Effects. I thought the dark screens may be an issue in showing the projections, but the projection looked as though the videos were coming from the screens themselves and even reflected the images on the opposite walls, eyeballs moving across the back wall of the room. My message was conveyed clearly and I was happy with the reaction of my audience. If I were to do this again in the future, in a studio setting, I would love to try and obtain more Tube TVs and CRT monitors, preferably 5. I would also find it interested and strengthen the message to possibly use a couch sitting in front of the TVs, setting up an environment that mirrors your living room.  I would love to put this piece in the final exhibition. It was a fun project to make as well as a well-communicated message that’s easy for all to grasp and intriguing to consider as you feel the eyes following you.
